This is a truly amazing find: authentic part of dinnerware of the last tsar of Russia- Nicholas II Romanov. This particular gravy boat belongs to the Farm Service, made for the Farm palace in Alexandria Park in Peterhof. The sides are decorated with Imperial Cipher of tsar Alexander II. The manufacturer was the Imperial Porcelain Factory. The gravy boat was made in 1896 and it is marked with a green cipher, initial of tsar Nicholas II and the year of production- 1896. The condition of the gravy boat is superb: there is not cracks or chips and only a slight loss of gold color paint is visible on one side of the spout of the dish. The measurements of the gravy boat are as follows: -depth of the bowl of the gravy boat- 2 inches; -diameter of the bowl of the gravy boat- 5 x 3 1/2 inch; -height- 5 1/2 inch; -length- 7 1/2 inch; -width- 3 1/2 inch. The dish has thick walls to keep the gravy hot as long as possible. It also has a pretty hefty weight. At the end I allow myself to add just one rhetorical question: how much closer can you get to the family of the last reign of the Romanovs but to have a meal from the exact dishes they touched? Imperial Russia is gone and the only way we can reach it is by bringing to the light the few remaining of tsar’s possessions like this gravy boat. Quite astonishing feeling.
