Description : The item up for bids is a
gorgeous vintage Upsala-Ekeby covered casserole or serving dish in
the Blå Blom (Blue Flower) pattern. Blå Blom was designed by Paula
von Freymann during her stint at Upsala-Ekeby (1964-1966). It has a
beautiful cobalt flow blue floral decoration on both sides with
matching blue trim on the lid. The knob on the lid and the rim of the
pot have reeded edges. There is a stick handle on one side and a
thumb nub opposite for easy lifting. The pot is signed on the bottom
Le Gefle, Upsala-Ekeby, Sweden, Blå Blom. It still retains a paper
label on the bottom that I assume is care instructions (it's in Swedish). The pot comes
in a Georg Jensen box, I don't know if it's original to the pot but
there is a hand written 'bean pot' notation on the side so I imagine
it's been in there for a while. It's a beautiful example of
mid-century Swedish country design, have some fun and bid! Condition : It
is in good vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs.
It has age appropriate handling wear with scattered surface scratches and pinpricks. The surface is glossy and the colors are sublime. The glaze shows
fairly uniform overall surface crazing. The interior is clean and
shiny (this may have been a serving pot but it was never cooked in).
There is an un-glazed strip on the inside rim that has darkened a bit with age, it's worth noting but doesn't detract at all in my opinion. It's a lovely pot that is suitable for use or display. The Georg Jensen box has more than average wear and tear with split
seams and damage on the bottom. The pictures are the best
indicator as to condition, please use the zoom feature and check them
out. Dimensions : The
bowl portion is about 7" in diameter at its widest, the overall
length is about 11" from the end of the handle to the tip of the
thumb nub, and it's about 7" tall at the top of the finial. (Note:
measurements are approximate) Shipping : The
