1940s Stangl Pottery Prelude Pattern 14" Large Round Serving Platter

Vintage Stangl Pottery Prelude Pattern 14" Round Serving Chop Platter The Stangl Prelude pattern was introduced in 1947.  A unique attribute of this pattern is that the white englobe was thinly brushed on as opposed to later patterns where the englobe was sprayed on.  This technique allowed some of the body to show through creating an antique look and the characteristic background swirl. This simple pattern is one of many floral themed designs and features incised lines and raised detail. The platter is round with two large, stemmed, pink lilies with variegated green leaves that comprise the design. This is the largest serving platter in this pattern. Like most Stangl, it is hand painted with no two pieces exactly alike. Measures ~ 14 1/4" in diameter. Heavy for its size. In excellent vintage condition. Without chips, deep scratches, or cracks. The artwork is intact and bright. The glaze is shiny.  Please see the pictures.
